Over a month ago, on March 2 against Indiana, Shannon Brown sprained the thumb on his right shooting hand while blocking a shot from Dahntay Jones of the Pacers.

Since then, he’s been playing through the injury, averaging 19.4 minutes per game in March and 25.8 in four April games. The thumb has

affected his shooting to the tune of 38.5 percent shooting from the field in March and 28.9 percent in April, but Lakers head coach Phil

Jackson still values his contribution.

quality that he is is very important to us.”
